Unawatuna is a sheltered, palm-fringed bay on the south coast just a few kilometres from Galle, long regarded as one of the finest swimming beaches in Sri Lanka. Its calm, reef-protected water makes it ideal for swimming and snorkelling, while the Japanese Peace Pagoda on the headland offers sweeping views over the bay and the coast towards Galle Fort.
